My 4 Element Cubex Quad Antenna
Here is a video that I did recently about my 4 element Cubex Quad..The antenna is only up about 25ft at the boom & the boom length is 30ft..I have never had a Yagi on HF, didn't have the money & bamboo was plentiful when I was a kid..Over time I graduated to a 2el Gem quad, then a few years back had the opportunity to pick up on the Cubex..
Quads are great antennas..One thing that is definately in their favor is that they will work well at low altitudes..I'm sure this antenna would work better if it was higher up, but for the moment 25ft is all I can do..I have been able to make a lot of noise on the band/s..

How To Install A NMO Ham Radio Mobile Antenna Mount
This video shows how to install a NMO type antenna mount..It was mounted on a 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck at Kcomm the ham radio store in San Antonio, Tx..I aquired my brother Tim KE5CFZ to help me..
The NMO mount requires a 3/4" hole which was drilled thru the roof just in front of the cargo light assembly..The coax was then run under the headliner, down under the inside trim, then under the kick panel to behind the drivers seat..
The coax was cut to length, pl-259 was soldered on & a Tram dual band antenna was screwed onto the NMO mount..
The antenna was tested with an analyzer & all SWR checks were good on VHF & UHF..
Thanks for watching..73s, Mel, WA5UTK,
